The Bhakti Caravan was formed in 2009 after lead singer Radha (Ellen) Katz had been chanting Kirtan (devotional Sanskrit mantras in call & response style) for years as part of her spiritual and yoga practices. Integrating the musical styles of the individual performers in a Here-and-Now experience, improvisational art as rhythm, melodies and chants arise.

In this track, a well-known Sanskrit sloka is chanted, followed by OM SHANTI, as the word for peace (shanti) is activated with the powerful syllable, Om (Aum). Asatoma Satgamaya, Tamasoma Jyotir Gamaya, Mrtyorma Amritamgamaya is a prayer of intention, meaning: Lead us from Untruth to Truth, Lead us from Darkness into Light, Lead us from (the illusion of) Death to Immortality (our true identity). It is a powerful mantra.
